In Game 1 of their Western Conference Quarterfinals match-up, the Grizzlies had kept a first quarter lead for much of the second period. Then the Spurs decided to get hot and erase almost all of the good work the underdogs had done.
Spurs Vs. Grizzlies Score: Memphis Takes 45-43 Lead In Halftime Despite Late San Antonio Run
San Antonio closed the second quarter on a 7-2 run in the final 1:59, and shaved Memphis’ halftime lead to two points, at 45-43.
Once more, the Spurs have Tim Duncan to thank for their continued contention. Duncan has 12 points and seven rebounds, and his improbable dunk off a dribble ignited that Spurs spurt.
The Grizzlies have kept up their efficient offense, though. Memphis is shooting 48.5% from the field through two quarters — the Spurs are shooting 40% — and the three-headed monster of Mike Conley, Zach Randolph, and Marc Gasol has combined for 34 of Memphis’ points.
The Grizzlies have also moved the ball well, notching 11 assists.
