Chauncey Billups Injury Could Knock Knicks’ Point Guard Out Of Game 2 Against Celtics

Chauncey Billups may not be able to play in Game 2 of the New York Knicks' first-round NBA Playoffs series against the Boston Celtics after straining a knee ligament at the end of Game 1 Sunday evening. Billups told the media following the game that his knee buckled on a layup attempt in the final minutes of the Knicks' two-point loss, and he had a lot of pain in the locker room.

Unfortunately for the Knicks, they get no extra rest before Game 2, scheduled for Tuesday in Boston. Without Billups, the Knicks would have to rely more on Toney Douglas, who shot 3-8 in 25 minutes on Sunday. Billups was pretty bad against Rajon Rondo and the Celtics, shooting 3-11 for 10 points with three turnovers and four assists. Rondo, meanwhile, went just 5-14, but had nine assists to one turnover.
