Amar’e Stoudemire Leaves Celtics Vs. Knicks Game 2 With Back Spasms, Expected To Return

Amar'e Stoudemire left the New York Knicks' Game 2 against the Boston Celtics in the second quarter with back spasms. Stoudemire was on the court when he signaled he needed to come out of the game; New York coach Mike D'Antoni queued up an intentional foul on Boston, which had the ball.

Unfortunately, Knicks point guard Toney Douglas committed the violation, picking up his third personal foul and forcing seldom-used Roger Mason into the game as Chauncey Billups was made inactive due to a knee injury.

Stoudemire went to the locker room after coming out of the game. Howard Beck of the New York Times reported during halftime than Stoudemire was "probable" to return in the second half. Stoudemire is just 2-9 in Game 2, with four points and five rebounds. Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks to a 45-44 halftime lead, scoring 16 points and adding 10 rebounds and four assists.
