As Shakespeare or perhaps Ptolemy said, “To err is Jared Jeffries. That’s it. To err is Jared Jeffries.”
VIDEO: Jared Jeffries Fumbles Away Game 2 For Knicks Vs. Celtics
The New York Knicks were one basket away from knocking off the Boston Celtics on the road in Game 2 without Chauncey Billups and Amar’e Stoudemire. Carmelo Anthony, who is not of this world, was triple-teamed 25 feet from the basket, leaving Jeffries open underneath. ‘Melo made the pass and Jeffries, who had just hit a monster bucket over Kevin Garnett to swing the lead to the Knicks, received the pass. And then he did this (via @blazersedge).
In fairness, Garnett is a monster, and probably would have blocked the shot if Jeffries had gone straight up with the ball. And all told, Jeffries had a nice little game, with 10 points and six rebounds. But this is sort of trouble you get yourself into when your rotation includes Jared Jeffries and your only suitable scoring big man (Amar’e) goes down. This is why teams strive for depth, and this is why the Knicks are at least a year away from being special.
