There has been a considerable amount of jawing and physical play in this game so far, and it seems to be spurring on the raucous Rose Garden crowd in Portland. The teams ramped up their scoring in the second quarter, as the Mavs’ Dirk Nowitzki finally seemed to find his shot. He leads the Mavericks with nine points.
The Blazers have been led by point guard Andre Miller, who has scored 12 points. They’re shooting only 35.5 percent from the field, but just as in the first quarter, they are pulling about even in terms of rebounds and turnovers.
The Mavericks currently lead this series, 2-1. The winner of the series will advance to face the winner of the Lakers-Hornets series, which the Lakers currently lead, two games to one.
