Knicks Vs. 76ers Final Score: Carmelo Anthony’s 31 Points Holds Off Late Philly Comeback
Anthony finished with 31 points and 11 rebounds for the Knicks who blew a 19 points second half lead without the injured Chauncey Billups on the floor. Billups left the game in the third quarter after suffering a right thigh bruise in a collision with Philadelphia’s Elton Brand. Billups briefly returned to the floor before exiting for good.
Without their point guard on the floor, the Knicks offense bogged down in the fourth quarter enabling the Sixers comeback. Philadelphia outscored New York 27-19 over the last twelve minutes behind a big fourth quarter from Thaddeus Young who scored 15 of his 25 points in the fourth period. Elton Brand finished with 24 points and nine rebounds.
Amare Stoudemire finished with 18 points, six rebounds, and seven assists while Toney Douglas had 17 points including a big three that gave the Knicks back the lead for good.
With the win, New York moves back into sixth place in the Eastern Conference passing the 76ers. They have now won five straight games.
