The Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers headed into the second quarter tied, but Portland turned it on, pulling away to take a 53-47 halftime lead. The Blazers used a strong performance from the starting five, with three of the five in double-figures already. Portland’s balanced effort helped it counteract Kobe Bryant, who suddenly caught fire after scoring just four points in the first quarter.
