The Atlanta Hawks opened with a 9-0 run and hold a 10-point lead at halftime, 28-18, over the Chicago Bulls. They were hot from the field, sinking 13-of-22 shots. Joe Johnson led the team with seven points as part of a balanced attack. Four players each put four points on the board. Al Horford got into early foul trouble with two in the first quarter.

The Bulls, on the other hand, were stone cold, missing their first seven shots. Luol Deng had the Bulls' first six points when he made two free throws and the first two field goals. Derrick Rose has been kept silent on the court for the most part, missing all seven shots he attempted. Keith Bogans and Joakim Noah each have three points (the former on a three and the latter on free throws), while Noah, Deng and Carlos Boozer each have pulled down three rebounds.
