John Kuester ‘Has Not Been Let Go’ By Pistons, According To Reports

The firing of Detroit Pistons head coach John Kuester has seemed so inevitable for so long that ESPN’s initial report about his imminent departure from Detroit just seemed like the other shoe finally falling. But new reports contradict Ric Bucher’s sources, and indicate that Kuester isn’t quite out the door — yet.

A source told CBS Sports’ Ken Berger that Kuester “has not been let go,” and that no decision on his future will be made until ownership of the Pistons is fully transferred from Karen Davidson to Tom Gores. MLive.com’s Chris Iott also reports that a source says nothing is decided yet, but couches that by saying Kuester “will be fired,“ and that it’s “a matter of time” before it happens.

So, on one hand, Bucher is reporting that Kuester will be fired soon; others are reporting that he won’t be fired now but will be fired later. Either way, Kuester seemingly isn’t going to be spared the axe, just given a stay of execution.
