Derrick Rose Injury: Turf Toe Problem Resurfaces; Bulls’ Star Likely Out Friday

Derrick Rose has been hobbled over the course of the last two weeks with the ailment known as turf toe, but the Chicago Bulls star has sort of down played the injury as he's from sitting to starting and back to sitting over the last fives games. The NBA's reigning MVP made it sounds like he's going to continue sitting -- at least through Friday night's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Rose didn’t go through shootaround with Chicago on Friday morning and then later told the Chicago Tribune’s K.C. Johnson that he feels a little regret that he played on the injured toe.

“Knowing that right when it starts feeling good it can go right back to zero, I have to make the smart decision,” Rose said. “I wasn’t able to bend my toe in like three years. When this injury happened, I aggravated it and I played on it sooner. It was real bad.

“Injuries are going to happen. That’s why I always get treatment. This is worse than my second season. That season, I just played through it but it wasn’t that bad. Not being able to bend my toe in three years and somebody just forced their weight on my toe, it definitely hurt it.”

Head coach Tom Thibodeau said he's going to allow Rose to warm up individually on Friday night before officially ruling out his All-Star point guard.
