It could be up to two more weeks before Baron Davis suits up for the flailing New York Knicks, reports Howard Beck of the New York Times. Davis has not played since last April. He was waived by the Cleveland Cavaliers under the amnesty clause in December, and quickly signed with the Knicks to replace Chauncey Billups, himself waived under amnesty provisions.
Baron Davis May Not Play For Knicks For Up To Two More Weeks, According To Report
Without Davis, the Knicks have relied on rookie Iman Shumpert, combo guard Toney Douglas, a rapidly aging Mike Bibby and now former Harvard guard Jeremy Lin at the point. The results have not been great.
New York went 1-3 on its road trip, missing Carmelo Anthony for losses in Miami and Houston. The Knicks are now 7-13, a game and a half out of the No. 8 seed in the East. (The Bucks, who lost Andrew Bogut for much of the regular season, if not its entirety, are No. 8 after beating the L.A. Lakers on Saturday. The Cleveland Cavaliers are a game ahead of New York for No. 9, and the New Jersey Nets have pulled even with the Knicks.)
