Daniel Gibson Hospitalized With Neck Infection, Sidelined Indefinitely

Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson remains hospitalized in Boston with an infection in his neck. When he missed the team's game against the Celtics on Sunday, it was originally attributed to mere soreness, but he was eventually admitted to a nearby hospital for additional treatment and was unable to make the return trip to Cleveland with his teammates.

From the AP:

Gibson was at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he was being treated with antibiotics for what the team said has been diagnosed as a soft tissue infection in his neck. The team said Monday night that Gibson would stay in the hospital for additional treatment and tests.

The sixth-year veteran has already been ruled out for Tuesday's game, the second-half of a home-and-home series with the Celtics. It's not yet known when he will return. Complicating matters for Cleveland is the fact that Anthony Parker, suffering from a sore lower back, is also expected to miss the game, leaving the team awfully thin in the backcourt.
