Daniel Gibson Injury: Cavs Guard Released From Hospital, Still Sidelined

Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson was released Tuesday from a Boston hospital, where he was admitted over the weekend after being diagnosed with a soft tissue infection in his neck. He's still being treated with antibiotics, according to the Associated Press, and could remain sidelined for a few more days.

"He's feeling a lot better," Cavs head coach Byron Scott told reporters before Tuesday's home game against the Celtics. "I do know the Cleveland Clinic (doctors) are going to do more tests to make sure everything is OK. But other than that, we're just glad he's OK."

Gibson, in his sixth season, is averaging 7.1 points with a career-low .339 field-goal percentage this season. Since the Cavs are also missing starting point guard Anthony Parker, who's also sidelined indefinitely with a sore lower back he tweaked on Sunday, rookie Mychel Thompson made his first career start Tuesday in just his third career game.
