LaMarcus Aldridge and the Portland Trail Blazers wanted to improve on their 5-1 record in Phoenix on Friday night. Markieff Morris had other ideas, leading the Suns to an upset.
Blazers Vs. Suns Final Score: Unlikely Star Markieff Morris Helps Phoenix Pull Upset, 102-77
Steve Nash had 17 points and nine assists for the Suns, and Jared Dudley led them with 18 points, but Markieff Morris’ 13 points and nine rebounds in 31 minutes made him the leader of a slew of bench players who came through for Phoenix. Morris was joined by reserves Shannon Brown (14 points) and Hakim Warrick (12 points) in double figures, and Robin Lopez snagged 12 rebounds in just 18 minutes of play.
The Blazers couldn’t keep up, thanks to their very cold night from the floor. Portland shot 32.5 percent from the field, with LaMarcus Alridge, Jamal Crawford, and Nicolas Batum combining to make just 13 of their 41 shots in the game. All three players scored in double figures despite their poor shooting, but no other Blazers joined them.
