Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry did not return to Friday's game after leaving with an ankle injury, but Warriors head coach Mark Jackson said Curry was held out as a precaution and the injury did not appear to be serious.

After leaving Friday’s game with an ankle injury, Golden State’s Stephen Curry reportedly avoided a serious injury, Warriors coach Mark Jackson told Sports Illustrated.
Jackson told Sports Illustrated’s Ben Golliver: “I’m sure if it was Game 7 he would be available. To me, it’s not that important. He’s fine. He could have went back into the game tonight. I’ll just play it by ear and make a decision.”
Curry, who had surgery on the ankle during the offseason, will not need an MRI. Jackson said Curry lobbied to get back in the game, but Jackson held him out. Curry left the game during the second quarter when Blazers guard Wesley Matthews stepped on Curry's ankle as Matthews was going for a steal.
While an ankle injury limited Curry to 26 games last season, the injury Friday does not appear to be serious enough to keep him out of any regular season games.
The Warriors have two preseason games remaining before opening the regular season on Oct. 31.
