NBA releases video explanation of anti-flopping policy

The NBA has taken a strong stance against the pervasive flopping issue that has been a hot topic of conversation in recent years.

Also, flopping will be determined as follows, according to NBA.com:

The determination of whether a player has violated the flopping rule will be made by the League following video review of the play. (Game officials will not make determinations about flopping during games.)

This week, the league has implemented a policy that it believes will keep players from taking a dive. The first violation of the new rules will result in a warning, with the second infraction costing the player $5,000.

With each additional violation of the rule comes a bigger fine: $10,000, $15,000 and topping out at $30,000 for a fifth violation. If a player actually commits six or more infractions, the league has the right to discipline the offender as it determines fit.
