Steve Blake injury: Lakers point guard out Friday night

The Lakers will be without Steve Blake against the Suns, which means Kobe Bryant could handle the point guard duties.

Lakers point guard Steve Blake will not play against the Suns on Friday night, according to Kevin Ding of the OC Register. Blake is dealing with a strained abdomen and was a game-time decision for L.A.

Darius Moore will be the starting point guard for the Lakers this evening. Moore is averaging 5.7 points and two assists a game so far this season, and he’ll have a chance to make an impression against a new-look Suns backcourt.

Despite Moore making the start, look for Kobe Bryant to handle a lot of the point guard duties. Bryant was the primary ball handler for much of Los Angeles' game with the Spurs on Tuesday and dished out eight assists. If this game is close late in the fourth quarter, look for No. 24 to have the ball in his hands with the game on the line.

Tipoff from Staples Center is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET.
