The post-Steve Nash Phoenix Suns are a mediocre basketball team with a fairly boring roster. Their fanbase -- or at least the pocket of it that pays for tickets -- has eroded accordingly. The team is on pace to have its lowest average attendance since 1992, the first year of its new arena.

And so, the Suns have decided to take a fairly extraordinary step with their fans: “Satisfaction Guarantee Night.” Via ESPN’s Darren Rovell.
Next Thursday, the Phoenix Suns will be the first team in NBA history to guarantee its fans that they will have fun at the game against the Mavericks, or they can get their money back.
Thursday, Dec. 6 is a TNT game against the Dallas Mavericks. If fans feel they did not have a "good time" at the game, they can fill out an online form, attach a copy of their ticket and get a full refund.
Note that this applies whether the Suns win or lose. Theoretically, if the Suns win but a fan spills a drink on his lap, he could fill out the form, register a complaint and get his money back. This is a logical stretch, of course, but it does illustrate an interesting dilemma the Suns may have. Are they going to accept all complaints, or will they rule that some are just too ridiculous to consider?
Regardless, it’s an interesting gamble by the Suns. Worse-cast scenario, a few fans take the effort to get refunded. Best-case scenario, a few fans that wouldn’t have otherwise bought tickets do so and find that a Suns game is better than they expected. The long-term benefit likely outweighs the short-term cost.
