New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony will not play Monday against the Houston Rockets, according to Knicks' head coach Mike Woodson.
Carmelo Anthony ruled out for Jeremy Lin’s return
Carmelo Anthony will not play on Monday against the Houston Rockets.
Anthony, who has been battling an ankle injury, will miss his second straight game. After not playing on Saturday against Cleveland, most expected Anthony to play Monday against the Rockets, but instead will rest until at least Wednesday. Chris Copeland will start in place of Anthony against Houston.
Anthony suffered the injury last Thursday against the Lakers and despite being listed as day-to-day will now miss his second straight game. He is second in the NBA in scoring, averaging 27.9 points per game. Without him, the Knicks barely edged Cleveland, 103-102, on Saturday.
Copeland scored 11 points in 19 minutes in place of Anthony against Cleveland. Although Anthony will miss the return of Jeremy Lin, he is expected to return to the lineup when the Knicks host Brooklyn on Wednesday.
