Eric Gordon injury update: Hornets’ guard’s rehab will end this week

The New Orleans sharpshooter is closing in on his return to the court.

New Orleans Hornets guard Eric Gordon is finishing rehab on his right knee this week, he announced via Twitter on Monday.

Gordon has missed 23 games to date during the 2012-13 season, as a right knee injury has kept him sidelined. After missing Hornets training camp and the preseason, Gordon chose rest and rehab over microfracture surgery and was expected to be out four to six weeks.

The 6'3 sharpshooter was traded to New Orleans from the Los Angeles Clippers in the Clippers' trade for Chris Paul in 2011. Gordon played in only nine games for the Hornets in the 2011-12 season due to an injury to the same knee. In those nine games, Gordon scored 20.6 points per contest while shooting 45% from the field.

In his fifth season out of Indiana, Gordon carries career averages of 18.2 points, 3.3 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game while shooting 45.2%. The Hornets are 5-18 this season in his absence.
