Josh Howard was waived by the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday after it was discovered that a knee injury suffered against the New Orleans Hornets last Friday was an ACL injury, according to Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune. The injury was originally believed to be a hyperextension.

Josh Howard will be missing significant time once again.
Howard has appeared in 11 games this season for the Timberwolves in mostly a reserve roles, averaging 6.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 18.8 minutes per game. He has struggled from the field, knocking down just 40 percent of his shots.
Howard has never played a full 82-game season since being drafted in the first round by the Dallas Mavericks back in 2003. The closest he came was a 76-game campaign in 2007-08. That year, he averaged 19.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists, hitting on nearly 46 percent of his field goal attempts.
Since then, he has not made more than 52 appearances in any single season.
