Lakers fans will be getting another gift under the tree this Christmas Day as Steve Nash (leg) is expected to return for Los Angeles' Dec. 25 showdown against the New York Knicks, according to Mike Trudell of Lakers.com.

Steve Nash is expected to make his highly-anticipated return on Christmas Day after showing no ill-effects after Thursday’s scrimmage.

Nash told Trudell he’ll “for sure” be on the court for the Lakers’ marquee East-West showdown next week after missing the previous 23 games with a fractured left fibula. He reportedly felt fine Friday after participating in a 5-on-5, full-court scrimmage the previous day.
The 38-year-old point guard will obviously take some time to get back into game shape but his return will provide a boost to a Lakers' offense that has struggled with ball movement for most of the season. Los Angeles is currently 23rd in the league in assists per game at 20.3 with Chris Duhon and Darius Morris running the show. On the flip side, Nash has averaged at least 9.7 assists per game over his last eight seasons so that number should easily rise.
The 17-year veteran was averaging 4.5 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds in his first two games in the yellow and purple before going down with the injury.
