Toronto Raptors rookie center Jonas Valanciunas could miss anywhere from four to six weeks as he recovers from a hand injury, according to a report by TSN. However, it was determined by hand specialist Dr. Herb von Schroeder that he will not require surgery.

Toronto Raptors rookie center Jonas Valanciunas could be out for four to six weeks because of a broken finger. However, he will not need surgery to repair anything in his hand.

The Lithuanian center was battling for a loose ball under the basket when he fell and broke the ring finger on his right hand on Dec. 21 against the Orlando Magic. Prior to his injury, Valanciunas had started in the first 28 games of the season with the Raptors. Up until he was injured, he averaged 7.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
Arguably his best game of the season was back on Nov. 25 against the San Antonio Spurs, where he scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He had also recorded a pair of double-doubles with 11 points and 11 rebounds against the Philadelphia 76ers on Nov. 20 and 16 points with 10 rebounds against the Charlotte Bobcats on Nov. 21.
