Heat vs. Wizards 2012 results: Lowly Washington stuns Miami, 105-101
Five players scored in double figures for the Wizards as they upset the Heat on Tuesday night in D.C.
Behind 22 points from Jordan Crawford, the Wizards dealt a surprising loss to the Heat, 105-101, at the Verizon Center. LeBron James triple-doubled for the first time this season with 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists, but missed a potentially game-winning 3-pointer with 18 seconds left in the game, and a would-be game-tying 3-pointer with four seconds on the clock.
Hot shooting helped the Wizards (2-13) build an early lead, as they scored 60 points in the first half and shot 48 percent from the floor overall. At halftime, Washington held a surprising six-point lead, only to see the Heat whittle that down to four by the start of the fourth quarter. Miami (12-4) got within a single point down the stretch, but some clutch shooting by Crawford and Kevin Seraphin was enough to put the Wizards over the top.
For the Heat, James was the scoring leader, with Dwyane Wade adding 24 points, and Chris Bosh double-doubling with 20 points and 12 rebounds. The rest of the team didn't contribute much, however; starters Mario Chalmers and Rashard Lewis each finished with zero points. Ray Allen and Mike Miller each had 11 points, but were shaky from long range, finishing a combined 6-of-17. The Heat was also without backup point guard Norris Cole, who missed the game with a groin injury.
Crawford led the way for the Wizards, who got 16 points and 10 rebounds from Seraphin, as well as 14 from A.J. Price and 13 from Martell Webster off the bench.
The Heat's next game will be Thursday against the New York Knicks. Tip-off wil be at 8 p.m. ET in Miami.
