Oh no, this is a chance to give advice to Bobcats owner Michael Jordan, who now can look into naming his struggling franchise after the team that used to draw 22,000 fans a night in Charlotte.
Bomani & Jones: Bobcats need a name change
Well, it looks like the New Orleans Hornets will soon be called the Pelicans. While that’s awfully humorous, “Bomani & Jones” won’t laugh at owner Tom Benson’s misguided attempt to put on for Louisiana.
Bottom line: the Bobcats need to rebrand, and calling the team the Hornets is a great way to do so. And, should Jordan need an example to show the power of rebranding, he need look no farther than 2 Chainz, a man who recovered from the self-inflicted stage name of “Tity Boi.” ‘Cause if you can make people forget you were once known as “Tity Boi,” you might know more about rebranding than the folks who turned Arthur Andersen to Accenture.
So yeah, instead of laughing at the Pelicans, we’re just using all this as another reason to laugh at MJ and the Bobcats. And Tity Boi. We’ll definitely be laughing at Tity Boi.
