Anderson Varejao Injury: Cavaliers’ Big Man To Miss 4-6 Weeks With Fractured Wrist

Anderson Varejao, who is in the midst of a career year with the Cleveland Cavaliers, will miss 4-6 weeks with a fractured wrist (via @PDcavsinsider). Varejao had previously been ruled out indefinitely, but this news essentially confirms pretty close to a worst-case scenario for the Cavaliers, who don't have much depth behind their starting center. This could mean that Varejao could miss as many as 20 games.

Varejao had been one of the Cavaliers’ best players this season. He was leading the league in offensive rebounds (4.4 per game), was averaging 11.5 rebounds per game and even scoring 10.8 points per game. Those are all career highs for a player who was averaging 7.2 rebounds and 7.3 points per game during his seven-year NBA career.

The Cavaliers are currently 11-16 and a few games behind the New York Knicks for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, something that will undoubtedly take a blow with the loss of Varejao.
