Net Cords: Charting Lakers Trends Over The First Half

The Los Angeles Lakers had a tumultuous first half of the 2011-12 NBA season. They are sixth in the West with a 20-14 record and are dealing with issues both on and off the court.

Between the loss of Lamar Odom, an entirely new offensive system, and the trade rumors swirling around Pau Gasol, it's no wonder that the Lake Show hasn't quite been the same. But they still have Kobe Bryant and, with head coach Mike Brown, a new focus on the defensive end.

In the kind of story that’s made the SB Nation network famous, Lakers blog Silver Screen and Roll delves into the details of the Lakers advanced stats for the week leading up to the break:

The offense, which has been this team's biggest problem, improved this week. Had they not run out of gas against the Thunder it would be even more evident.

Defensively they were on par for another week of similar results before the second half of the OKC game. The Thunder put up 54 points on the Lakers in the second half as they ran away with the game and it hurt the Lakers in their defensive efficiency. The end result is a net rating similar to last week.
