Boston is aggressively shopping Rondo, according to sources. The Celtics find Rondo's personality to be too high-maintenance and his clashes with coach Doc Rivers continue. With the Celtics having realized they are no longer title contenders, they don't believe the payoff is worth the headaches Rondo brings, sources say. And they do not want to build around him.
The Celtics have been pondering trading Rondo for a while, so this idea that he is too immature to build around has popped up before. That said, with the team languishing around .500, the urgency to make a decision on Rondo’s future is greater.
Broussard reports that the Celtics engaged Golden State on a swap involving Stephen Curry in December, but the Warriors didn't want to pull the trigger.
