Pau Gasol Shrugs Off Latest Lakers Trade Rumor

On Friday, the respected writer Roland Lazenby reported that the L.A. Lakers were preparing a Pau Gasol trade, indicating that it was basically a done deal. There was some brushback though, and nothing was consummated by the time the Lakers took the court against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Gasol got to avoid a resting Kevin Love and played rookie Derrick Williams to a virtual standstill. After the game, he told the media that the latest rumor didn't bother him too much because he didn't hear anything he believed.

From the Orange County Register’s Kevin Ding:

[B]ecause Gasol hadn’t heard a thing from any legitimate source, he put it aside. He didn’t hear from his agent or anyone with the Lakers - “which is a good sign, I guess,” Gasol said.

In fact, Gasol managed to take his mid-game-day nap, as usual, for more than an hour.

We’ll see whether the rumors surrounding Gasol get hotter or cooler as Thursday approaches.
