NBA Trade Rumors: Antawn Jamison Wishes To Stay With Cavaliers, According To Report

You would think that the Cleveland Cavaliers, a rebuilding team a few games out of the playoff race and in need of adding another young piece or two to Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson, would be ready to deal veteran Antawn Jamison to a contender at the deadline. Jamison has averaged 18 points and almost seven rebounds this season, teaming with presumptive Rookie of the Year Irving to form a potent duo.

It appears that this tag-team will continue to operate through the end of the season, as Bob Finnan of The News Herald in northern Ohio reports that Jamison has not requested a trade and that Cleveland does not plan to move him (via HoopsHype).

Jamison is making $15 million this season, so it would have been difficult to move him regardless considering that it’s unlikely any team chasing him would have long-term salary that Cleveland would actually want. Finnan also reports that the team has no plans of buying out Jamison’s contract after March 15 so that he could sign a deal for the rest of the season with a contender.
