The Chicago Bulls might be torpedoing Derrick Rose's bid for another NBA MVP award. They're 9-4 in games he's missed, and in his 14th game out, they're facing the Orlando Magic on the road and winning 48-33. John Lucas, the Bulls' third-string point guard, scored nine points in less than a minute and finished the half with 11 points.
Bulls Vs. Magic Score: Chicago Handling Dwight Howard, Orlando Without Derrick Rose
Dwight Howard, comfortably in a Magic uniform until the 2013 trade deadline, got in foul trouble early, and wasn't happy about how it happened. That kept him out of the flow of the game for the most part, ending the half with eight points and four rebounds. He hasn't gotten any help from his teammates, however. For the Magic to be successful, Ryan Anderson, Hedo Turkoglu, Jason Richardson and Jameer Nelson have to be hitting their three-pointers, but, other than Anderson, they're 1-7 as a team.
More importantly, they're not defending anyone, especially Carlos Boozer. Boozer has roasted Ryan Anderson and has gone off to the tune of 16 points, five rebounds and two steals, shooting 8-10 from the field. If Boozer is playing this well, and the Magic aren't shooting threes, the second half is going to be even longer than the first.
