Amar’e Stoudemire Injury Worries Knicks Fans

Amar'e Stoudemire has been diagnosed with a bulging disc in his lower back and will be out of action indefinitely. While the New York Knicks won their first game without one of their key starters, the injury has Knicks fans plenty worried.

Seth over at Knicks blog Posting and Toasting has been tracking Stoudemire's injury since it knocked the power forward out of Saturday's game against the Detroit Pistons. Here's the reaction upon first learning that Stoudemire was going for an MRI:

Another serious back injury would be an especially bummerful bummer because Stoudemire was just starting to look like his bouncy self and make a positive impact on both ends of the floor, and that’s a good 10 or 11 months after first hurting himself.

And the reaction to the diagnosis:

We know all too well from our experiences with Danilo Gallinari and Baron Davis that bulging discs have the potential to cause a lot of trouble long-term. There's no way of knowing for how long this particular disc would like to bulge, but it seems possible that Amar'e could sit out for quite some time. Pooooop.

While the Knicks were able to plug in Carmelo Anthony at power forward in Stoudemire's first game out, the injury still has a lot of New York fans understandably biting their nails.
