NBA Trade Rumors 2012: Boston Celtics Open To Dealing Paul Pierce, According To Report

The Boston Celtics are likely to be involved in many NBA trade rumors as we approach Thursday's trade deadline, as they seem to be setting up for a rebuilding effort this summer. The Celtics continue to be a playoff team, but they also have very few players under contract past this year. One exception is star Paul Pierce, and the Celtics appear willing to even move him to open up even more cap room.

Ken Berger of CBS Sports reports:

The Celtics are prepared to entertain offers for Paul Pierce, whose subtraction from the Boston core would be the most advantageous to the post-Big Three rebuilding effort given his age (34) and the $32 million he’s owed over the next two seasons. And for those same reasons, he’ll be the most difficult of Boston’s top four players to move.

Berger also reports that the Celtics have fielded offers for Ray Allen, with the Clippers the leader for his services. As for Rajon Rondo, Berger reports that the Celtics will listen to offers, but won't deal him unless they are "blown away."
