Net Cord: Best WNBA Draft Coverage Anywhere

It goes without saying that the WNBA Draft doesn’t get the same level of wall-to-wall coverage that the NBA Draft receives; and the NFL Draft is on an entirely different planet in comparison.

But for the fans of women’s basketball, Monday’s draft is both the culmination of four-year college careers and the beginning of a professional journey for many young players. WNBA devotees are just as interested in how their teams can improve through the draft as in any other sport.

For those fans, SB Nation has some of the best coverage out there at women’s basketball site, Swish Appeal.

Here’s the final Mock Draft from Swish Appeal:

2012 WNBA Mock Draft 2.0 - Swish Appeal
There were some players who I’ve enjoyed watching in the NCAA whose statistics suggest that they might be going pro in something other than U.S. professional basketball shortly. There were others who look great on paper but maybe not as great in games. In other words, as much as this thing might be an “open” draft, it’s not all that difficult to narrow the field to those with the strongest possibility of WNBA success.

What is difficult to predict is trades and it wouldn’t at all surprise me to see 2-3 teams make a trade to acquire talent that fits more appropriately.

Swish Appeal’s comprehensive coverage of the 2012 WNBA Draft can be found here, with updates throughout the day. The draft begins at 2pm ET / 11am PT on TV at ESPN 2.

’Net Cords’ features the great work being done by the SB Nation network of NBA team sites.
