Net Cords: Playoff Teams Tanking, The Epidemic Spreads

The Milwaukee Bucks are very much in the thick of the NBA Playoff race. They sit just one game out of the eighth and final seed in the East and yet some Bucks fans are more interested in tanking than playing for that final spot.

The “tanking vs. winning” debate is a heated one with passionate advocates on both sides. Do you do what should comes naturally to any competitor and fight until the final buzzer sounds? Or do you step back and look strategically and rationalize losing as part of the greater good?

SB Nation’s Brew Hoop weighs in on how they think the Bucks should play out their season.

My 6 Requests For The Last 6 Bucks Games Of 2012, Assuming They Miss The NBA Playoffs - Brew Hoop
I believe the Bucks should take the opportunity to put young players like Tobias Harris, Larry Sanders, John Leuer and even Monta Ellis into new and different roles for the final six games to get something on tape and help the front office determine whether they can each handle expanded roles next season. They should do it even at the expense of winning games. It simply matters more.

There’s no right or wrong answer to the tanking question, with history providing evidence to both sides of the debate.

’Net Cords’ features the great work being done by the SB Nation network of NBA team sites.
