The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 124-89 on Monday, clinching the No. 1 seed in the NBA Western Conference Playoffs for the second straight season. The Spurs will finish No. 1 over the Oklahoma City Thunder, who led the standings for much of the season but have experienced a rare spell of inconsistency in April. The Thunder are now guaranteed the No. 2 spot.
Spurs Beat Blazers, Clinch No. 1 Seed In West Playoffs
The San Antonio Spurs have clinched the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference playoffs for the second straight year.

The game was over almost as soon as it began. The Spurs entered halftime with a 22-point lead with the offense clicking on all cylinders. Gregg Popovich can now fully rest Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and possibly Tony Parker for the final two games of the season. (One of those comes against the Golden State Warriors, who are doing everything in their power to not win games.)
The Spurs don't yet know who they'll face in the first round of the West playoffs, with the Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns in play. A potential second-round series against the L.A. Clippers or Memphis Grizzlies (who felled the Spurs a year ago) looms.
