Charlotte Bobcats Are Officially The Worst Ever

The Charlotte Bobcats confirmed what we all suspected: They are the worst. With a loss on Thursday to the New York Knicks that TNT improbably televised, Charlotte ended its season 7-59, clinching the worst winning percentage in a season in NBA history. The previous worst record belonged to the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers, who went 9-73.

The Bobcats had already racked up the worst scoring margin in modern NBA history and finish the season on a 23-game losing streak. Charlotte won just four games at home and three on the road, and peeled off just one within the Southeast Division. They will finish the season with the league’s worst offense and the league’s worst defense.

Two years ago, the Bobcats were in the playoffs. That capped the only winning season in franchise history. Within a year, Charlotte traded that team's three best players: Tyson Chandler, Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace.

If there’s a bright side, it’s that Charlotte is guaranteed one of the top four picks in the 2012 NBA Draft, and have the best odds of landing the No. 1 pick, which should be superlative big man Anthony Davis.
