Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose will not play tonight against the Boston Celtics, but hopes to return on Sunday against the New York Knicks, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Celtics Vs. Bulls: Derrick Rose Out, May Play On Sunday
Rose has missed 11 straight games since injuring his groin against the Knicks on March 12. Rose participated in this morning’s shootaround and had hoped to play tonight, Johnson reported earlier on Thursday.
“I’m feeling better,” Rose said. “I’m able to move a little more. If I feel good when I’m out there, I’m definitely going to play. If not, I’ll be smart...
“But every day it’s improving, the less I think about it,” he said. “I’m running more, did the whole shootaround. You don’t feel it. I’m moving around a little bit. I know it will be different if it’s a game-type experience. It’s not. I’m shooting set shots.”
The Bulls are 7-4 without the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player. At 42-13 on the season, the Bulls have the league's best record and are currently 8.5 games ahead of the Indiana Pacers in the Central Division standings.
