Miami Heat Apologize For Amar’e Stoudemire ‘Extinguished’ Joke, Are Lame

In a rare hilarious moment by a normally-annoying practitioner of his craft, the Miami Heat's public-address announcer said that Amar'e Stoudemire was "extinguished" when he picked up his sixth foul in Wednesday's night's Heat-Knicks Game 5. The joke was obvious, but it was still funny.

Unfortunately, funny apparently isn’t allowed anymore. For whatever reason, the Heat have decided they needed to apologize for their joke.

"Last night at our game, our PA Announcer had a momentary lapse of judgment and used a poor choice of words in describing Amare Stoudemire’s fouling out of the game. This is not who we are as an organization or who he is as an announcer. Both the Miami HEAT and Michael Baiamonte apologize to Amar’e and the New York Knicks for the inappropriate choice of words."

C’mon people. Lighten up.
