While the Atlanta Hawks did not make it quite as far into the 2012 NBA Playoffs as they or their fans would have liked, by all accounts their performance in the lockout-shortened 2011-12 regular season was a tremendous success. The Hawks were able to make it to the postseason despite injuries to key players, which spoke to the depth and cohesiveness of the team.
Larry Drew Will Return As Atlanta Hawks Head Coach
The Atlanta Hawks had some success under Larry Drew. In response to that success, the team will pick up the third-year option on Drew’s contract.


The man that led the Hawks this past year was Larry Drew. It appears as though the front office will reward Drew's success with the team by bringing him back for another year. According to Sekou Smith of NBA.com, the Hawks have picked up the third-year option on Drew's contract, ensuring that the coach will remain in charge of the team through at least the 2012-13 season.
