Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge suffered a season-ending injury back in April. Aldridge was forced to have surgery on his hip to repair a labral tear, which not only ended his season but knocked him out of consideration for the 2012 Summer Olympics. The loss of Aldridge essentially killed the season for the Blazers, as the forward was having an All-Star season at the time.
LaMarcus Aldridge Briefly Hospitalized With ‘Deadly’ Blood Virus
Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge revealed on his blog that he was recently hospitalized with a blood virus.
Aldridge revealed on Friday that he was hospitalized with a deadly blood virus on his blog, LA’s Rehab Central (h/t Ben Golliver at CBS).
On Saturday I came down with a blood virus. I quickly became sick and had to be rushed to the hospital. I thought it was a case of bad food or a bad cold, but I was wrong. It turned out to be a very serious virus that if not treated quickly could actually be deadly! One thing I know for sure is that I’ve never felt worse in my life and there were times I wasn’t really sure where I was going. Thankfully I had a lot of family support and great medical care that helped me fight through it and now I’ve turned the corner and I’m feeling much better
Aldridge’s recovery time from his hip surgery in May was slated to be two to four months and all indications are that that time period is still on track. Aldridge has had several health issues, dealing with a hip injury and suffering from Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, which required him to undergo an electrical treatment procedure multiple times.
The latest blood virus is another weird speed bump in the young player’s NBA career.
