The Miami Heat, who can win the NBA championship on Thursday, are nearing a mammoth new deal with Fox Sports Florida that could net the club $80 million to $100 million per season, reports Forbes' Mike Ozanian. The Heat's local and national ratings have been off the charts since last season, the first in South Beach for LeBron James. Forbes reports that the Heat finished this season No. 2 in local ratings between the Spurs with a 6.49, which means that 6.49 percent of all households with TVs in the Miami-Ft. Lauderale area were tuned in to the average Heat non-national game.

As Ozanian points out, the $80 million to $100 million would still be less than half of what the L.A. Lakers stand to make beginning next season under that club's new deal with Time Warner Cable. But for perspective, the Heat's division rival Charlotte Bobcats earn a reported $8 million per season from local TV. This is no small disparity.

Only a small portion of local revenue is shared among teams under the league’s expanded revenue sharing program, creating a real caste system in terms of franchise value.
