Nate Robinson Escapes Rucker Park Gunfire

The famous Rucker Park in Harlem is usually the home of wonderful summertime fun for NBA players and fans who drop in for various events. It was not, however, fun on Wednesday as Nate Robinson, viewing a game in the Entertainers Basketball Classic, had to flee after someone (possibly a player in the game) pulled out a gun and started shooting due to being upset at a call. (Seriously.)

Five people were shot in the end, and all are expected to survive. The New York Daily News (via SLAM!) reports that Robinson and other spectactors and players hightailed it out of there once gunshots rang out. Needless to say, gun violence anywhere in any circumstance is absolutely ridiculous. To have a historic spot like Rucker marred by gun violence in 2012 is incredibly sad.

Best wishes to those injured. No one in any nation should have to play a game while looking over their shoulder.
