The Phoenix Suns’ Channing Frye was diagnosed with an enlarged heart on Thursday during a routine medical checkup.

Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIREFrye was diagnosed with an enlarged heart in September 2012 after a treadmill stress test that players undergo before each training camp. The 30-year-old missed the entire season and, for a long time, he was limited to non-aerobic activities like walking, yoga and golf.
Frye was cleared to resume more vigorous exercise earlier this summer, though, and he says his heart responded well:

It was initially reported that Fye would be out until at least December, but he told azcentral sports that he would miss the entire season. Frye said he will not participate in any basketball activities and will be re-evaluated in December. While he will miss the season, Frye has a chance to make a full recovery.
“The good news is it is a virus so it does have a good chance of going away,” Frye said. “My heart can be normal again.”
