New York Knicks guard Ronnie Brewer will miss six weeks after undergoing surgery for a meniscus tear in his left knee. The injury was sustained at some point over the last two weeks.

If his rehab schedule goes according to plan, Brewer will miss the first three weeks of preseason activity and will have a little over two weeks to prepare for the start of the regular season, which begins on Nov. 1 against the Brooklyn Nets.

Brewer was selected with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz. Spending a little over four years in Utah, he was traded to the Memphis Grizzles a little after the halfway mark of the 2009-10 season. After playing only five games with Memphis, Brewer signed as a free agent with the Chicago Bulls and spent two seasons with the team prior to signing with the Knicks this past offseason.

In 418 career games, Brewer has averaged nine points, 3.1 rebounds and 25.2 minutes per game.
