The calendar flips and just like that the Los Angeles Clippers have their 17-game winning streak, which ran all through December, come to an end. The Denver Nuggets defeated them, 92-78, on New Year's Day, improving to 10-1 at home this season.

Danilo Gallinari led a balanced Denver attack, scoring 17 points on 6-of-15 shooting, while Kenneth Faried added 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Andre Miller, starting in place of point guard Ty Lawson, out Tuesday with a strained Achilles' tendon, contributed 12 points and 12 assists. His fellow point guard Chris Paul had 10 points and six assists. DeAndre Jordan added 11 points and 11 rebounds, with Blake Griffin scoring 12 points.
Denver shot 45.1 percent as a team from the floor while holding Los Angeles to 38.5 percent shooting for the game.
The Nuggets took a 48-43 lead into halftime, leading by as many as 12 points before the Clippers trimmed the gap late in the second quarter. Denver pushed it even further in the third, outscoring Los Angeles 27-16 in the frame to take a 75-59 advantage into the final quarter.
A late third-quarter surge was capped with a buzzer-beating three-pointer from JaVale McGee, in what was his first make from behind the arc this season.
