Eric Gordon injury: Hornets guard out against Celtics

Gordon, who has dealt with knee injuries for more than a year, will sit out Wednesday’s game as part of his rehab plan.

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Hornets aren't taking any chances with star guard Eric Gordon and his injured knee this season. He will not play against the Celtics on Wednesday night after playing Tuesday night in Philadelphia.

According to a tweet from A. Sherrod Blakely, the fourth-year guard is not allowed to play in back-to-back games during his rehab assignment. Gordon scored 19 points in 32 minutes of action last night as New Orleans defeated the 76ers, 111-99.

After undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery last February, Gordon has been limited throughout most of this season with injury. He made his debut on Jan. 1 and he has since averaged a little less than 17 points, four assists and two rebounds a night. Gordon signed a lucrative deal worth $58 million over the next four years back in July.

It is believed Gordon will return to the lineup on Saturday night as the Hornets welcome in the Golden State Warriors.

Tipoff between the Celtics and Hornets is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET from the TD Garden in Boston.
