Police arrived at the 22600 block of the Pacific Coast Highway after receiving a call that Sterling’s body was discovered around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday at a home in Malibu. He was 31.
Donald Sterling, who made his fortune in the real estate market, has owned the Clippers since 1981. The team is finally relevant after years as a punchline and had just seen a 17-game winning streak end. The Clippers were enjoying their most successful season under Sterling’s oft-criticized leadership. The season is now tainted as the controversial owner will have to deal with the death of his son.
