Delonte West resurfaces in NBA D-League with Texas Legends

Former NBA guard Delonte West has been searching for work in the league ever since he was waived by the Dallas Mavericks on October 29, and now West has joined the Texas Legends of the NBA D-League as part of his comeback journey.

Delonte West didn't find any suitors on the open market when the Dallas Mavericks waived him on Oct. 29, and now West's comeback journey will include a stop in the NBA D-League with the Texas Legends. The Memphis Grizzlies had reportedly considered signing West to a 10-day contract earlier this week, but they passed on the idea and that freed up the Texas Legends to snatch West off the waiver line.

The mercurial former first-round pick first signed on for the veteran's minimum with the Mavericks this summer, but he was suspended before the start of the regular season for engaging in conduct detrimental and was then waived prior to the season opener against the Lakers. He's still probably most famous for a rumored incident that puts the KG-Melo "Honey Nut Cheerios" saga to shame.

As a member of the Texas Legends, West will join forces with other former NBA draft picks on the road to a comeback, including Melvin Ely, Luther Head, Rashad McCants, Sean Singletary, and Sean Williams. The Legends are 11-12 on the season, and they are on the outside of the D-League playoff picture by a margin of 1.5 games.

The Legends’ official press release makes note of the fact that West is the 16th NBA first-round pick to play for the team. Here is the full list:
