If you dig Metta World Peace's off-the-court antics, then sit down for a second. Big plans are afoot.
‘Metta World Pranks’ is latest brainchild of Lakers forward
Metta World Peace is planning to develop a prank show featuring professional athletes, and that makes us smile.

The Los Angeles Lakers forward has joined with a production company to begin working on a prank show called "Metta World Pranks" (clever, right?), according to Deadline Hollywood. The show will feature professional athletes but could also include family members, friends and sports fans.
This comes after World Peace created Metta World Therapy, a show where the Lakers forward is counseled by little kids.
So what do pranks and professional sports have to do with one another? Nothing, you might argue:
“Pranking and practical jokes are part of the athletic culture, so it comes naturally to Metta,” said Eric Schotz, President and CEO of ICM Partners-repped LMNO Prods. “Metta has a great sense of humor and this show will be a natural vehicle for him to showcase a side of his personality we don’t get to see on the court.”
Well said, Mr. Schotz. The only downside is this means Metta himself won’t be on the other end of these pranks. We all know how that set the bar pretty high.
So if we’re looking past the fact that it’ll be hard to plant snake eggs (a.k.a. mushrooms) in World Peace’s locker, here’s a quick list of featured athletes or sports figures we’d like to see on the show:
- The easily-frightened Michael Beasley.
- De'Anthony Thomas, who probably is the only human being alive still vulnerable to catfishing after the Manti Te'o debacle.
- Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz, somehow involving a hand shake.
- Anyone in the show, Basketball Wives.
- Hasheem Thabeet, a spray can and a barber shop.
